The following are a few of the activities and events taking place in Colchester County this weekend.
Open door prayer for the community
AUG. 22 – First Baptist Church, Prince Street, Truro. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Offering personal prayer for people in the community. Wheelchair accessible to the church’s sanctuary.
Card game, 45s
AUG. 22– Good Neighbours Club. 21 Palmer St., Truro. 7 p.m. Includes 50/50.
AUG. 23 – Valley United Church hall, in the basement. 110 Salmon River Rd., Valley. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Rain or shine. All proceeds go toward building a high school in Guatemala.
AUG. 23 – Good Neighbours Club. 21 Palmer St., Truro. 1:30 p.m. Includes 50/50.
Blueberry festival supper
AUG. 23 – Peniel United Church, Five Islands. 4:30 to 6 p.m. Menu: ham, potato salad, baked beans, rolls, tea, coffee and blueberry desserts. Adults, $10; children 12 and younger, $5. Takeouts available. Sponsored by the UCW.
Annual blueberry festival
AUG. 23 – Fraser Cultural Centre, Tatamagouche. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Coffee, muffins for $3. Pie or cheesecake with sauce and beverage for $5. Bake table, berries, live music and crafts.
AUG. 23 – Stewiacke legion. Featuring City Lites – Bill, Lou, Danny and George. 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Shared lunch. Birthday party theme. Members and guests welcome. $6 per person.
Gospel coffee house
AUG. 23 – Bass River Baptist Church. 7 to 9:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Free-will offering.
Harvest For Hunger NS Picnic
AUG. 24 – Captain Cob’s Corn Maze, Masstown Market. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is a donation to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank to help end hunger in Sudan.
