HALIFAX - A man has been arrested without incident after police descended on an area of Clayton Park over reports of someone dressed in camouflage and carrying two long guns on Tuesday.

Halifax Regional Police spokesman Const. Pierre Bourdages says the reports came in at 9:24 a.m. from two different people who say they saw the armed man.

One woman told police she saw a man in fatigues walking on the linear pathway near the end of Westridge Drive with a long gun on his back. A second call then came in of a man with two long guns on his back walking on the same path near Veronica Drive.

Police closed down Westgate Drive to traffic and there was a ‘large police presence” on scene, including a K-9 team.

Around 10:30 a.m., the suspect in question came out of the woods and surrendered to police.

Police say he was carrying numerous pellet guns and was dressed in camouflage.
