Man sentenced for old crime in Glenholme

TRURO - An inmate at Dorchester Penitentiary in New Brunswick was handed an additional 36 months of confinement after recently being sentenced in provincial court in Truro on another crime.

Matthew Johnson, 25, pled guilty to assaulting Bruce MacAloney while attempting to steal from him during an incident that occurred in Glenholme in late September 2010.

Johnson was given credit for nine months jail time for being in remand prior to his sentence.

He was also banned from owning firearms and must provide a DNA sample to the national data bank.
