Assault on woman nets probation time for Truro man

TRURO - A Truro man who pled guilty to assaulting a woman was recently given a conditional discharge and placed on 14 months probation after appearing in provincial court in Truro.

Andrew Joseph Mooney, 43, of 300 King St., was also ordered to pay $250 restitution to his victim, Karen Gillespie.

As well, he must successfully take counselling for anger management and mental health issues, have no contact with Gillespie and not possess firearms or weapons during his probation period.

Mooney also pled guilty to three counts of breaching court orders by communicating with Gillespie while ordered by the court not to.
