SHEET HARBOUR - An elderly man is dead after a fishing accident on Wednesday afternoon.

The RCMP say a 76-year-old Sheet Harbour man was fishing on Sober Island Bridge around 5:30 p.m. when his line got snagged.

As the man tried to free his line, police say he slipped and fell off the bridge.

The man’s body was found about 30 minutes later by local boaters.
