RCMP assisting local police after body found in Westville

WESTVILLE – An investigation continues after a woman's body was found in the woods near the intersection of Office and Diamond Streets in Westville.

Police were at the scene much of Monday afternoon until approximately 9:10 p.m. when the road was reopened. An officer was left to maintain the perimeter near the woods.

Stellarton Police, as well as the Northeast Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification officers assisted Westville Police Department in their investigation.

When The News arrived on scene in the early evening there were more than six police vehicles on scene and at roughly 8:45 p.m. an officer was seen leaving the woods with a few bags, which were loaded into one the RCMP Forensic Identification trucks.

Police have offered no details on the discovery of the body, only to say that they are investigating.

Westville Police Chief Don Hussher said he would not be able to release any further information until some time on Tuesday.
