TRURO – Anyone looking for information on volunteering in the community will have a number of organizations at their fingertips this fall.
‘Growing Volunteers’ is now in its third year, with the Truro Volunteer Fire Brigade joining the Colchester Volunteer Network this year to highlight the importance of volunteering and the many opportunities that exist right here in Colchester County.
The one-day fair, held this year on Sept. 27, will connect local people with resources and volunteer opportunities within the county, showcase services and programs, and bring like-minded people together for sharing and learning.
At the same time as the volunteer fair, the brigade will host its annual ‘Walk in Our Boots’ firefighter combat challenge, featuring teams of firefighters from throughout the province.
“If you are looking for a way to get involved in your community and volunteer, this is an excellent way to connect and learn about opportunities,” said Raye Leier, chair of the Colchester Volunteer Network, in a press release.
Exhibitor space is available at no cost by pre-registering with the United Way of Colchester by Sept. 19.
The fair will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 in the community room at the Truro fire hall. The firefighter combat challenge runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that same day at the hall.
