The city of Moncton no longer has reason to fear Justin Bourque.
New Brunswick RCMP took to Twitter just after 1:30 a.m. on Friday to report the manhunt had ended. At 12:10 a.m., Bourque was taken into police custody, alive, and Moncton residents are free to leave their homes.
The news comes more than 24 hours after the 24-year-old Moncton resident began his rein of terror through the city by gunning down five police officers - killing three and wounding two more.
The killings led to an extensive chase, which saw citizens locked down inside a triangular area in the Mountain Road region. Over the course of the manhunt, Bourque was spotted several times, but was not captured until the early hours of Friday.
