Louisbourg man killed in two-vehicle crash

SYDNEY — A Louisbourg man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on the Louisbourg Highway at Morrison Road Wednesday afternoon.

Cape Breton Regional Police Staff Sgt. Kevin Dowe said the elderly man died at the scene.

He was the lone occupant in a Mazda Protégé. The accident occurred at around 5:30 p.m.

Two other people, a man and a woman, were taken by ambulance to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney. They were driving a black Kia sport utility vehicle.

Dowe said they suffered non-life threatening injuries. He believed they are between 30 and 40 years of age.

The crash is under investigation by the regional police.

Traffic in the area was detoured around the area for several hours after the accident.
