KENTVILLE - A Kentville man has been charged with attempted murder after three people were stabbed overnight June 20 in the downtown area.

“We have laid charges and remanded Paul Eldon Lake, 53, of Prospect Ave., Kentville, with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of aggravated assault,” Kentville Police Chief Mark Mander.

Two 911 calls from the area of Prospect Road and Main Street reported the stabbings around 1 a.m.,

Police allege Lake injured three people: two men, ages 24 and 26, who remained in hospital late Friday afternoon, and a 36-year-old female victim who was treated and released.

Lake is in hospital recovering from injuries, the police chief said, but is in the custody of sheriffs.  Lake is scheduled to appear in court June 24 and has not yet entered a plea to the charges.

Mander said the incident was a domestic assault and the accused is known to police.

“The investigation continues and more charges are pending,” Mander said.
