STEWIACKE – The cause of a fire at a vacant convenience store here last week is still under investigation.

Brent Murdock, with the Stewiacke and District Volunteer Fire Brigade, said the investigation is still with the fire marshal’s office.

“The fire marshal is still doing some testing, still analyzing things,” said Murdock. “It’s just one of those wait and see games.”

The fire started at about 6 a.m. May 26 at the former convenience store in the center of the town. The building, which housed apartments in the upper level, had been vacant for a number of months.
