TRURO - A former Truro man accused of kidnapping and unlawfully confining his girlfriend, has been committed to stand trial in Nova Scotia Supreme Court.

Kyle David Ryan Wheaton, 28, of 379 Bedford Highway, Bedford, is also charged with assault causing bodily harm to his former girlfriend, Patricia Joseph, between April 1 and 9, 2012.

His mother, Kathy Madelyn Nash, 58, of 21 Thomas Ave., Truro, is charged with being an accessory after the fact in assisting Wheaton for the purpose of enabling him to escape, knowing he committed bodily harm, kidnapping the victim with the intent to cause her to be confined, unlawfully confining the victim and obstructing a peace officer.

A three-day preliminary inquiry scheduled for this week for the pair wrapped up after two days of hearings when it was determined there is enough evidence for the trial to proceed. They are scheduled to attend Supreme Court in Truro on April 15 to set a trial date.
