WESTVILLE - Bible Hill RCMP arrested a suspect in an armed bank robbery on Wednesday.

A 30-year-old Westville man was apprehended just west of Exit 18 on Highway 104 in Colchester County after police received a 911 call of an armed robbery at the Scotiabank on Main Street in Westville.

The call was received just after 11 a.m., and the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle before police arrived.

In addition to Bible Hill RCMP assistance, Stellarton police and the Pictou County Street Crime Unit also assisted Westville police.

"We got the word out quick and everybody responded and we were able to apprehend him quickly," Westville Police Chief Donald Hussher said of the joint effort. "It was excellent work by all the police officers and the general public."

Hussher said he could not provide details about what the suspect was wearing or what weapon was involved in the robbery. He also would not disclose what was taken in the robbery, citing the pending investigation.
