TRURO – Alan Johnson is returning to the Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce.
Johnson will soon be in charge of the day-to-day operations of the organization. He served as executive director from 2004 to 2008 and is returning to that position on a part-time basis on Monday.
“For about a month, I will split my time between the Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce and my current employer, the Colchester Regional Development Agency,” said Johnson. “I will begin full-time work with the Chamber of Commerce on March 11. I am extremely pleased to be returning.”
Current president Don Hay is confident Johnson can help ensure a smooth transition between executive directors.
“Alan is familiar with the chamber movement and how the organization operates and functions,” said Hay. “There’s no training required. He can jump right into our current projects and ensure we lose no time whatsoever.”
After close to five years as executive director, Tim Tucker is moving on to a new position as operations manager with the Colchester East Hants Health Centre Foundation.
“I have truly enjoyed my time with the chamber of commerce and am grateful for the experience and the people I have had the opportunity to meet over the last five years,” said Tucker. “At the same time, I’m really looking forward to new challenges and opportunities with the health centre foundation.”
The Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce is one of the largest Chambers in the province with close to 430 members. Formed in 1890, it has been involved in business advocacy and membership services for close to 125 years.
