TRURO – A special online series will make its debut on trurodaily.com this Saturday.

‘Deeply Rooted’ is an 11-part project produced by the editorial staff at the Truro Daily News and co-edited by reporters Sherry Martell and Raissa Tetanish.

Each part offers a glimpse – through photos and audio – into the lives of unique Colchester County residents and their connection to this land.

Included among the vignettes are Zach Julian, an 18-year-old Millbrook resident who gives back to his community; Joe Gillis, a harness racing trainer who has devoted his life to the sport; David Swan, a New Annan resident who earned a place in the Guinness World Record book; Merle Sullivan, a llifelong Nuttby resident who recounts the Great Depression and a time when horses ruled the roads; and Johnny (Chucker) Matheson, a Brookfield resident who established a children’s softball program more than 40 years ago which is still thriving.

“Deeply Rooted goes much deeper than a glancing look at ‘doers’ in the community,” said Martell. “We are proud to share the stories of these outstanding residents with our online audience.”
