TRURO – Three local musicians are putting their talent together in support of a local church.

The Gordon Tucker Trio, featuring Tucker, Laura Watson on fiddle and bassist Jim White, is performing at St. Andrew’s United Church on Feb. 3.

Proceeds from the concert will go toward upgrades to church windows.

When Tucker was nine, he picked up his older brother’s guitar not knowing he would become a very popular entertainer and musician. Being self-taught and proficient in guitar, fiddle, drums and bass has given him a chance to play at various places throughout the world, including in front of Canadian troops in Afghanistan in 2007.

One of his favourite shows to play is the Annual Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Fredericton.

Tucker is a long-time member of the Berry Hill Band, most notably playing with Ivan and Vivian Hicks for the Onslow-Belmont Fire Brigade twice annually for more than 20 years.

Admission to the concert is $10 at the door. The event begins at 2 p.m., with a storm date set for Feb. 10.
