Tractor trailer crash

UPDATED AT 2:50 P.M.

The closure of the Exit 15 ramp, connecting Highway 102 with the northbound lanes of Highway 104 at Truro, has been delayed until 5 p.m. to allow for the removal of freight from an overturned tractor

TRURO – The Exit 15 ramp connecting Highway 102 with the northbound lanes of Highway 104 at Truro will be closed for about four hours beginning at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, due to an accident involvmg a tractor trailer carrying tires on mOnday night.

Northbound traffic, toward New Brunswick, will be detoured to Trunk 2 at Exit 14A and directed west for about eight kilometres to the flashing light at MacElmon Road. Traffic will then take MacElmon Road for about two kilometres and connect with Highway 104 at Exit 13.

The detour is necessary to remove a tractor trailer that overturned on the ramp. Traffic on Highway 102 heading east on Highway 104 is not affected but extra caution is advised at the interchange

The tractor trailer carrying tires from Bridgewater will have to be unloaded before it can be righted after it flipped on the Highway 104 on-ramp late Monday night.

The driver had lost control of the vehicle as he left Highway 102 and travelled along the on-ramp to Highway 104 around 11 p.m. The truck rolled over on to its passenger's side with the tractor on the road and the trailer in the ditch. The vehicle was bound for Moncton.

A crew with the Transportation Department was called to deal with an oil leak as well as the Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade.

The tractor trailer is expected to be moved later in the day. The cause of the crash is under investigation but alcohol was ruled out as a factor, according to a report from the Colchester County RCMP.
