LifeFlight transports female cyclist to Halifax following collision with vehicle in North River

RCMP collision analysis is complete and Highway 311 reopened to traffic.

The unidentified female was transported to hospital in Truro with undetermined injuries. She was later transferred to a Halifax hospital via LifeFlight. A female cyclist was transported to hospital in Halifax via LifeFlight helicopter with "serious injuries" Friday morning following a collision with a vehicle on Highway 311 in Central North River.

The accident occurred near where Hwy. 311 intersects with Upper Brookside Road. Colchester District RCMP Sgt. Paul Vickers said the first 911 call came in at 6:28 a.m.

The driver of the car was not injured. 

An RCMP analyst was on the scene and motorists were detoured through the area until the road was reopened shortly before noon.

The female, whose age was also not released, was initially taken to the Colchester East Hants Health center by EHS.
