AMHERST – Heather Beach near Northport is closed to swimming until further notice.

The provincial Environment Department issued the news via Twitter just before noon on Monday.

It says the beach will is closed to swimming because of high bacteria.

It will remain closed to swimmers until water testing results show the water is safe for swimming.
