An aggressive 18-year-old Cole Harbour driver faces a bevy of charges for refusing to pull over for police.

An RCMP officer patrolling in Westphal on Monday was running radar on Highway 7 when he saw a Nissan Altima and another vehicle travelling westward sideby- side, police said in a news release.

The two vehicles were travelling at 126 kilometres per hour in a 90-km/h zone at about 3 p.m.

When the officer turned on the cruiser lights to stop the two vehicles, only one driver pulled over.

The driver of the Nissan ignored several attempts by police to pull him over, police say.

At one point, the driver swung into a busy parking lot, and even after making eye contact with the police officer, drove away at a high rate of speed.

Police say the driver continued on at a high rate of speed, failing to stop for the police car with its lights and siren activated.

RCMP members obtained the licence plate number of the vehicle and had another officer go to the address of the registered owner.

The driver was located and arrested without incident, and his vehicle was seized, police say.

The man faces Motor Vechicle Act charges of stunting, driving without insurance, failing to provide a valid driver’s licence, driving without a valid vehicle inspection and operating a vehicle without valid registration.

He also faces Criminal Code charges of fleeing police and the dangerous operation of a vehicle.

He will be in Dartmouth provincial court on Oct. 3.
