WALDEGRAVE, N.S.
An unoccupied house between Tatamagouche and Brule burned to the ground early Monday morning during a blaze of “undetermined” origin.
“Old dogs die and old houses burn down sometimes and we don’t always know why,” Tatamagouche fire chief Ian MacDonald said, of the bungalow that was destroyed at 3146 Highway 6.
“It was totally destroyed pretty well when we got there. It was fully involved,” he said. “There was nothing left but the foundation.”
MacDonald said his department was called out at around 3:30 a.m. Mutual aid was provided by the fire brigades in River John and Wallace.
Approximately 30 fire fighters participated in the effort.
MacDonald said the home, which was owned by an individual in Cumberland County, had not been occupied for some weeks since the previous tenants moved out.
