Conditional sentence for Salmon River man for drug possession

TRURO, N.S. – A Salmon River man who pled guilty to possessing cannabis resin for the purpose of trafficking and for possession of marijuana was handed a nine-month conditional sentence on Wednesday.

Nicholas Elton Timothy Murphy, 31, of East Prince Street, must serve the first month of his sentence under house arrest. For the final eight months he must adhere to a curfew from 8 p.m. to a.m.

During his house arrest he is permitted to be outside to walk his dog between 11 a.m. and noon and between 5:30 and 6:30 daily.

For the full nine months Murphy is prohibited from possessing, consuming/using alcohol or illicit drugs and is not permitted to associate with anyone with a known criminal record.

He was further banned from possessing firearms or weapons for 10 years and was fined $200.
