TRURO, N.S. – The VON is offering a way to get a ‘Sweetheart Treat’ for Valentine’s Day while also supporting a good cause.

The Colchester-East Hants VON is holding its second annual Valentine fundraiser, taking orders for treat packages, for two, that include cheesecake, chocolate (donated by Sweet Spot Chocolate), napkins, plastic forks, paper plates and a small candle.

It’s our biggest fundraiser,” said Karen Lively, chair of the board for the local VON. “We raised about $2,000 last year, and this year we expect to raise more.”

This year the program is being sponsored by Lennie Walser, pharmacist with The Medicine Shoppe on Willow and Prince streets.

All funds raised through ‘Sweetheart Treats’ will remain in the Colchester-East Hants area to help with adult day programs, foot care clinics, transportation for health services and Vial of Life.

Treat packages are $20 and can be ordered by calling 902-893-3803 extension 313. They will be ready for pickup on Feb. 13.
