Prestigious orchestra at local church this weekend


TRURO - Two young musicians will be part of the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra performance in Truro this weekend.

The orchestra, which includes Emma Fortunato on violin and Ross Macintosh on trombone, will present a 3 p.m. matinee at the First United Church on Saturday.

On the program will be music from composers Sir Edward Elgar, Franz Liszt and Anton Reicha, under the direction of composer and music director Dinuk Wijeratne. Andrew Son, 17, will be featured on the piano.

Tickets are $20 for adult, $15 for senior, $10 for student and $5 for children. They can be purchased in advance at the church or MacQuarries Pharmasave on the Esplanade, or at the door. Doors open at 2:15 p.m.
