The HeartLand Tour will be in Truro Wednesday morning, and members of the core team are hoping lots of people will drop by Victoria Park to join them for a bike ride or a walk.
Daisy Roberts, one of the owners of Hub Cycle, is a member of this year's core team, which also includes visits to Halifax, Antigonish, Sydney, New Glasgow, Annapolis Royal, Bridgewater, and Yarmouth.
The aim of the event is to encourage people to be active, reducing their risk of heart disease. Medical students are taking part in the tour, and will check participants' heart rates.
Those who want to cycle can take part in either a long road ride, which is 43.9 kilomtres; short road ride, which is 20.2 kilometres; or a 15 kilometre trail ride. Routes start and finish at the Victoria Park bandshell. Walkers can join a hike through Victoria Park.
There will also be children’s activities, draws for prizes, t-shirts and a light lunch. Costs are covered by sponsors so the event is free for participants.
More information, including maps of the road rides, can be found on the HeartLand Tour website at http://www.heartlandtour.ca
