TRURO, N.S. – People are invited to pick an apple from a Giving Tree to help children return to school well prepared.

Giving Trees have been added to the United Way of Colchester’s Back to School campaign this year. Trees are set up in the United Way office, 90 Esplanade, Suite 2, Staples, Truro Mall and the libraries in Truro, Tatamagouche and Stewiacke.

Apples on the trees have lists of school supplies that are needed. Some apples have the grade and gender of a child and a partial list of what their starter kit would include, while other apples are more general, listing supplies that are in high demand and needed over several grades.

Supplies can be delivered back to where the apple was picked or to the United Way office. Financial donations can be made at the office or online at www.colchester.unitedway.ca

Children who would benefit from receiving a Back to School Starter Kit can be registered by calling the United Way at 902-895-9313 before Aug. 15.
