GREAT VILLAGE, N.S. - Andrew Meredith enjoys colouring in books, but they could well be  books he’s created himself.

To mark Canada 150 the former Great Village resident, who now lives in Moose Jaw, Sask., has released a colouring book called “Quilting Canada” containing designs that showcase all provinces and territories.

“About half the designs are scenes with quilts that depict an area and the others are scenes that have a quilting look,” he said. “A friend (Christina Ritchie) wrote something for each page that explains a bit about the design and the area.”

Meredith has created two other colouring books, “Welcome to Great Village” and “Welcome to Saskatchewan.”

“I enjoy it because it covers so much of what I like to do: designing, marketing and putting things together. It’s a great way to utilize all of my talents in one thing.”

He also understands the benefits of colouring, and attends a group where he enjoys the activity with others.

“It can be addicting,” he said. “Once you start you want to keep going and see how it turns out, and it’s a good escape when you want to relax.”

Meredith also paints, and his subjects are often seascapes, lighthouses and prairie scenes.

His books are now available at his grandparents’ farm shop, the Farm Gate Shop, in Highland Village (just outside of Great Village) and on his Etsy store: MeredithArtCreations  ( https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/MeredithArtCreations?ref=hdr_shop_menu ).

He will be back in Great Village for a visit this spring and will attend a launch for his latest book at the Royal Canadian Legion in Great Village from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on May 27.
