TRURO, N.S. – Famed Elvis tribute artist Thane Dunn will be returning to Truro for a Christmas concert in December and a sellout show will generate $5,000 for the local SPCA.
“Five thousand dollars, if we can sell every ticket, which I think we can,” Dunn said, of the 1,000-seat CEC auditorium.
Dunn was recently named celebrity ambassador for the greater Moncton SPCA but he is extending that role by assisting with other SPCA locations throughout his travels.
Regardless of the actual number sold, Dunn said $5 from every ticket for the Dec. 17 show will be donated to the Colchester SPCA.
Additionally, one particularly lucky ticket holder will walk away with a $500 cash prize.
“Basically what that means is, somebody is going to look under the seat and there will be a cheque there,” he said, of the seat-of-the-night prize being sponsored by Gary Steeves Insurance company in New Brunswick, which insures Dunn’s classic Cadillac convertible and his show jump suits.
As with Elvis, Dunn features a variety of flashy jumpsuits in his shows and he said the December show will be no different.
As for the night’s musical entertainment, he said it will feature “our new Christmas with the King” lineup, including a special Elvis classic.
“A lot of those songs that people grew up with,” he said. “And I think that Christmas and Elvis have become kind of synonymous. Until you hear Blue Christmas on the radio or at home it doesn’t really seem like Christmas.”
“There’s a lot of different songs that we’ve added and it’s a mix of everything,” he said. “Were covering lots of other stuff as well,” including gospel rock and rhythm and blues.
“I think there’s a little bit for everybody.”
Tickets for the December show are $45 for VIP seats, $32.50 for regular and $26 for upper, back row seats.
