ANNAPOLIS ROYAL, NS - Remember those killer frost nights back in early June? They didn’t get the roses at Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens.
In fact the rose gardens are a riot of colour right now and putting on a show for visitors that is worth slowing down for and appreciating the literally thousands of buds, blooms, and blossoms.
Gardens manager Trish Fry has that taken care of with the much anticipated and always popular event Wine & Roses set for July 6 from 5 to 7 p.m.
“Imagine roaming among acres of stunning beauty in the unique setting of Canada’s Garden of the Year (2015), wine glass in hand and the sweet aroma of roses in the air, while you listen to the sultry sounds of jazz... you've just imagined yourself at Wine & Roses,” said Fry, “a special evening in the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens.”
If an event can be described as elegant, Wine & Roses is it, and has become a hallmark community event, occurring on the eve of the popular Annapolis Royal House & Garden Tour.
“Thousands of rose blossoms, wine in hand, music in the air... it is simply a magical experience,” said Fry.
Your $15 ticket entitles you to admission, food, and entertainment. There’s a cash bar. If you are a 2018 Gardens Member (yet another reason to become a member, said Fry) you save $5 off that ticket price.
She said for even greater value there is a combo deal on Wine & Roses and the House & Garden Tour the following day. Check www.ExploreOurGardens.com for details.
This is a "rain or shine" event. Bring an umbrella and wander the gardens, or find shelter in the Gardens Interpretive Centre and Elm Tree Café.
One big piece of advice? Bring a camera.
Tickets may be purchased online, at the Historic Gardens, or by calling the Gardens at (902) 532-7018.
