MONIQUE CHIASSON The Truro Daily News
TRURO – Trudy Thompson will keep her position as chairwoman of the local school board.
The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board held its nomination meeting in Truro last night.
Three people were nominated for the board chair, including Thompson, Keith MacKenzie and Gordon Anderson.
MacKenzie and Anderson declined the nomination.
Thompson accepted and retained the seat she has held for five years. The position is a one-year term.
“It will be a challenging year with the state of the economy ...,” she said.
There were four nominations for vice-chair, including MacKenzie, Ron Marks, David Myles and Jamie Stevens. Marks, Myles and Stevens declined and MacKenzie accepted the bid, winning by acclamation. He has held the position for five years.
“I think we are in for a tough year ... but we could not have a better group to face it,” said MacKenzie. “We can handle what comes our way.”
The vice-chair position is also a one-year term.
