French, Donnelly on Canada Games hockey teams staff
TRURO – A pair of men with Colchester County connections have been named to the coaching staffs of Nova Scotia’s hockey teams for the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax.
Former Truro junior A Bearcats assistant coach Chris Donnelly, who is now an assistant with the Halifax Mooseheads, is head coach of the boys team. Truro’s Terry French, director of operations for Hockey Nova Scotia’s high performance program, will serve as director of operations for the girls squad.
Bearcats super in victory against Flyers
TRURO – Dan MacKinnon and Connor Rogers each had two-point nights as the Superline Fuel Bearcats downed the Sackville Flyers 5-1 in midget AA hockey action.
Lighting the lamp for Truro were MacKinnion with two, Brandon Crocker, Arron Crocker and Rogers. Assists went to Travis Ellis, Drew Smith, Patrick McNutt and Rogers.
Holman snipes in Faulkner victory
DEBERT – Shane Holman scored a pair of goals as Faulkner Financial Group tripled MacKenzie’s Towing 6-2 in Labatt’s West Colchester Commercial Hockey League action.
Jon Stanfield, Ali MacEachern, Sandy MacKenzie and James Porter also scored in the win while Shane Crawford and Spencer Cox replied for MacKenzie’s.
