Volunteering, bettering community makes for a busy fall

The ladies and gentlemen at the Londonderry Community Centre are at it again.

We are hosting a fundraiser roast beef supper with all the trimmings on Sunday, Oct. 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be homemade pies for dessert. You can come on out and get a delicious home-cooked meal and enjoy wonderful company for only $10 per plate. All proceeds will go directly to the Londonderry Community Centre.

On Oct. 31 will start off our first hunters' breakfast of the season with a "bang." We will have six breakfasts this year that will run every Saturday until Dec. 5. Breakfast hours are 8 to 11 a.m. Come join us for some good food and a lot of laughs. Again this year we will have a 50/50 draw. Tickets will be sold each week and the winner will be drawn randomly at the last breakfast in December.

We are so fortunate to have an amazing pocket of forest for our children to play that we call our "Londonderry Playforest." It is conveniently located between our community centre and the ball field. If you haven't made it out to play yet it is a must-do for autumn, and the colored foliage adds a whole new depth for sensory play. The musical instruments sound beautiful within the falling leaves and crisp, cool air. You can like us on facebook @ www.facebook.com/groups/playforest.

Also, on Nov. 8 we will be installing raised flowerbeds in our quaint Playforest as well as tidying up after a busy play season. If you are interested in learning about raised flowerbeds or lending a helping hand and/or shovel, contact Robbin at 902-668-2432.

In addition, the Londonderry Station Community Church - also known as The Thirsty Church - has a very special anniversary coming up. This year marks 65 years of the doors opening at our meeting house, as it was once called. Stayed tuned for more information regarding celebrations of this very special occasion.

The ladies of the Londonderry Station Community Church will be hosting their annual potluck auction in the very near future. If you would like more information about this event, contact Evelyn at 902-668-2112.
