Truro folks rock longjohns for festival kick off

TRURO, N.S. – Today is onesie day in Truro. Staff at the Truro Mall accepted the challenge of wearing a onesie to work for the start Truro’s Winter Long John Festival.

Staff gathered for a photo shoot before opening time this morning and then went to work – some of them to change back into work clothes and uniforms and some of them to keep rocking the onesie for the day.

Anyone who wears a onesie to the Reeny Smith Show at the Marigold Cultural Centre tonight gets their name entered in a prize draw. Also you can attend the 4:30 yin yoga class at Joyful Yoga Studio this afternoon and get in free if you’re wearing a onesie.

The Long John Festival hits high gear Saturday, Feb. 3 with a skating party and horse and wagon rides at the Civic Square starting at 2 p.m. Daisy Roberts is also leading two snowshoe walks from the Truro Junior High School at 10 a.m. and, just for seniors, at 1 p.m.

Also wear a onesie to the Betty Lacey Memorial Skate with the Bearcats at 9:30 p.m.  at the RECC for a chance to win prizes.

On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Royal Canadian Legion Truro Branch 26 will provide free hot chocolate for a coasting party on their hill.

For a complete schedule see the Town of Truro’s webpage.
