Two companies have been selected to design and build a natural playground and dyke trail at the site of the former Palliser property in Lower Truro.
Colchester County Council has approved a bid by Upland Planning & Design of Dartmouth and Cobequid Consulting of Economy to design and construct a natural playground, public washrooms, dyke trail and service extensions at the tidal bore viewing area.
The cost approved for the project is $86,170 (plus HST). A total of $90,000 had been budgeted by the municipality for the project.
The combined submission by Upland Planning & Design and Cobequid Consulting was one of five received for the project.
The venture is slated for completion by next May.
Colchester County has set a budget of $465,000 for Phase 1A of the overall development at the site.
That includes $290,000 from the municipality’s capital budget, $100,000 from its Recreation budget and $75,000 in provincial funding.
The other four bids for the playground and related-amenities project were:
Hornbeam Contracting - $86,000;
Turf Masters/Viridis - $90,000;
Tessier Recreo-Parc - $90,000;
Bienenstock - $90,000.
