MILLBROOK, N.S. – Millbrook will be filled with music, dancing and colour when the 19th annual powwow takes place Sept. 2 and 3.

“We’re pretty excited about this year’s event,” said Heather Stevens, one of the organizers. “We have Cree Confederation, one of the top award-winning drum groups, coming from Edmonton. Several other drummers and dancers are also coming from there, and our two head dancers are from Ontario. This is the first time we’ve had head dancers from Ontario and they’re both award winners.”

Another special addition this year is a second grand entry on Saturday. There will be a grand entry at 1 p.m. both days, with an extra one at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The powwow also includes food, crafts and demonstrations.

The event will be held at the powwow grounds behind Wilson’s gas bar, in Millbrook. In the event of rain, it will be moved into the Millbrook Gym.

Any changes will be posted on the Millbrook First Nation Pow Wow 2017 Facebook page.
