On Saturday, April 25, there will be a "Valuable Village" sale at the Londonderry Community Centre, 4058 Station Rd., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will be hosted by The Thirsty Church and people can fill a medium sized garbage bag for $10. An assortment of clothing for men, women and children will be available.

The annual Hillcrest Cemetery supper will be held on Saturday, May 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. For only $10 per plate you will get a roast pork dinner with all the trimmings finished off with a generous slice of homemade pie. If you would like to donate for this event contact Debbie at 902-890-6032.
The ladies from The Thirsty Church are at it again. On Saturday, May 9 they will be rocking from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Truro Mall for their annual Mother's Day Rock-A-Thon. There will be a cake auction, so stop by and see them to bid on homemade cakes. To pledge, contact Amanda at 902-668-2300.
Do you have a child between the ages of three and 10 who would like to play soccer or t-ball? The Londonderry Community Council will be hosting soccer and t-ball at the Londonderry ball field with registration taking place at the Londonderry Community Centre on Saturday, May 9 at 6 p.m. Call Victoria at 902-890-4242 for more details. Save the date: The Faith Baptist Church and The Londonderry Community Council, together with local community associations and volunteers, will have an old-fashioned Canada Day celebration this year. They hope to come together to honour our country, benefit local service organizations, and to have some family fun. This event will be hosted at 38 Station Rd. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 1. The celebration will begin with a children's parade from the Great Village Elementary School grounds to the Faith Baptist Church field. Events at the field will include children's games, coffee and snack table, popcorn machine, barbecue, local musicians, promotion table for local service organizations, wagon rides, jailhouse, and a dunk tank. At noon there will be a ceremony to honour Canada Day. All donations will go to benefit the Great Village Fire Department, Londonderry Community Centre as well as other local services.
Now that spring has sprung The Thirsty Church has reconvened Sunday services. They are held on the first and third Sunday of the month. Donations for the Colchester Food Bank are greatly appreciated on the third Sunday for "Food Bank Sunday." The church was able to donate about 300 lbs of food in 2014.
Victoria Lomond grew up in Londonderry Mines and returned home to raise her family in the town she loves. She currently works at Ryleigh's Place and volunteers in her community.
