Forty-six years and countless trees for Truro Tree Committee
A healthy looking Liberty apple sapling is placed into its prepared hole, topsoil is gently spread around and a good dousing of water is added as the final touch.
TRURO, N.S. - The United Way is looking for a few non-profit groups who could use a helping hand.
The United Way of Colchester County is now accepting project proposal submissions for its 2017 Day of Caring.
The event brings the community together, as local businesses volunteer to do some hands-on work for non-profit groups.
“Volunteers are looking for meaningful ways to make a difference in their communities, and non-profits often don’t have the resources to get the work done that they desperately need for everyday operations,” said Terry Hearn, executive director of the United Way of Colchester County. “Day of Caring brings these two groups together. It’s a win-win situation.”
Volunteers takes on chores such as painting, cleaning, building, and teaching life skills.
Project proposal submissions are due by May 31 and the Day of Caring, which is sponsored by the Community Credit Union, is Friday, Sept. 29. For more information, or to receive a submission form call 902-895-9313 or email email@example.com .
