New ownership agrees to bring back the popular summer attraction

During the summer months the local music scene, including some of the jams, kitchen parties and open mics, take a summer break.

In past years, Hidden Hilltop Family Campground in Glenholme had taken up the slack by running Thursday night open mics, starting at 6:30 p.m. from June 1 until the end of September. Ever popular, as the event had been running for the last 12 years, a good crowd was always on hand to listen to the country, old time rock and roll and down east music performed by local musicians, ages nine to 90.

Last year at the end of the season it was announced by the former owners that it was going to be the last season for the open mics. But now, seven months later, the campground has new owners, who met with a local committee of musicians from the campground area and agreed to run the open mics again this year.

A new format has been agreed upon, and the session will run the second and fourth Thursday of each month from June 26 until September 11. The open mics will start at 6:30 p.m. and follow the same format as in past years.

As in past years the Hidden Hilltop Family Campground “Summer Jammin” will be open to the public. Musicians, both from the area and outside it, area are encouraged to attend and participate in an evening of great music.
