RISE is brought to you in partnership with Dave Culligan, a 25-year-old, Halifax-based filmmaker and digital strategist, who many became acquainted with through his “365 Project.” In it, he created and shared a one-minute video for 365 consecutive days, documenting his adventures around Halifax and across Nova Scotia.
Starting out with just an iPhone, Culligan sought to develop his skills in videography and social media, while building his portfolio and personal brand. As he began to find his groove, the project quickly transformed into an exploration of the people, places and businesses in Nova Scotia, and a personal challenge to flip common, limiting attitudes on their heads.
Through this project, he grew his Instagram to more than 10,000 followers and amassed nearly three million views. For his efforts, he was recognized by almost every major news outlet in the province, was featured on the cover of Business Voice Magazine, and worked with major brands like EllisDon, Red Bull, Lulu Lemon, and Dalhousie University among many others.
After several months of producing and operating under his own name, Culligan recently launched a new production company under the name threesixfive Media Inc. along with a sequel to last year’s venture, threesixfive 2.0, in which he'll document his first year of launching a production company, while also setting and documenting other personal goals and experiences.

RISE is a 12-part video series that highlights the talents of 12 Nova Scotians who are rising up to the challenge and carving their own path to success right here in Nova Scotia. These are individuals who are proving that with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and commitment to finding opportunity in a challenging environment, that really, anything is possible.
“I've been super fortunate, through my work, to have travelled to cities like New York, San Francisco, and Hong Kong – and they were all amazing. I've fallen in love with travelling, but every time I come home, I'm reminded of what an amazing place we live in, and how much opportunity exists here for those who are willing to work for it. It's been crazy seeing this city and province grow right before my eyes over the past five to 10 years, and I'm really excited to see what the next five to 10 might bring.”
