TRURO, N.S. – A popular pizza eatery that closed almost two years ago in Bible Hill is reopening just across the bridge in Truro.
Damascus Pizza and Donair is reopening Monday at the corner of Mill and Queen streets in the space most recently occupied by Hub Grub.
“I’m glad to open,” said owner Bassam Hanna. “This name means a lot in Truro. A lot of generations grew up on this name. I’ll be glad to see them again, I will do my best to cook them good food.”
The previous Damascus restaurant on Main Street in Bible Hill was demolished after it was purchased by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.
Although customers can expect the same recipes and taste they were used to from Damascus in the past, Hanna said, the smaller location means that it will primarily focus on pickup and delivery orders. The new location can seat about 12 people.
And while the menu won’t feature pasta dishes as Damascus did in the past, Hanna said he will be offering pizza, donairs, burgers, poutine and salads.
“I am just happy to open again, specifically (with) Damascus,” he said. “This name means a lot to me. I’m hoping to work hard here to keep my customers happy.”
