The newly named Rath EastLink Community Centre, which was previously known as the
Central Nova Civic Centre, is named after businessmen, John Bragg, left, and Stu Ruth. Monique Chiasson - Truro Daily News

TRURO - The official name of the Truro and area civic centre honours two well-known businessmen.

The facility's name is The Rath EastLink Community Centre, thanks to substantial financial donations made by Truro's Stu Rath and Collingwood's John Bragg. Rath has been a businessman all his life and owns the Truro Junior A Bearcats. Bragg oversees EastLink Television and Oxford Frozen Foods.

Both men would not reveal how much they donated toward the project but said their strong desire to see community development and a well-constructed venue for future generations were a few of the reasons they wanted to be an intregal part of the project.

The announcement was made at the Marigold Cultural Centre on Tuesday morning. About 40 people were in attendance to hear the announcement.
