SALMON RIVER - The Central Nova Horse and Pony Club will host the 2009 Canadian Pony Club National Dressage Championships from Aug. 14 to 16.
More than 50 provincial champions from across Canada will be gathering in the Hub town to compete for the CPC National Dressage title.
Unlike provincial championships where competitors ride their own horse, national competitors are not permitted to do so.
This is a true test of the rider's skill and ability to perform in the discipline.
Riders are introduced to their horse approximately one hour prior to competition and have a very limited time to assess the ability of the horse and identify the skills needed to ride it successfully through technical dressage movements.
After competition wraps up, an awards ceremony will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The event is open for viewing to the general public. For more information contact Heather Ongo at hongo@eastlink.ca
