Boys make semi at Dorrington Memorial

TRURO - The Cobequid Cougars boys hockey team was knocked out in the semifinal of the recent Danny Dorrington Memorial Hockey Tournament hosted by the Northumberland Nighthawks in Westville.
The Cougars were upended 7-3 by the Lockview Dragons in the semi. Steve Unicomb, Travis Bentley and Graham MacNevin did the scoring for the Cougars. James Shapleigh, Marcus Boudreau, Dustin Wheeler and MacNevin picked up assists. Daniel Myette suffered the loss.
The Cougars blanked the defending provincial champion Kings Edgehill squad 2-0 in their second game of the event to finish second in the round-robin.
Rick MacDonald and Benn Boutilier scored while assists went to Unicomb, Shapleigh and Myette, who earned the shutout.
The Cougars battled to a 3-3 draw with the Dragons to open the event. Cobequid goals came from Boutilier, Bentley and Unicomb. Robichaud, MacNevin and Michael Tompkins assisted.
Corey Beaver made several key saves to preserve the tie.
