TRURO  A pair of Truro Tennis Club members stood atop the podium in their respective divisions after Day 2 of the Northumberland Junior Regional tennis tournament yesterday.

Truros Nigel Power won the under 18 division final with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Truros Aled Iaboni, while Salmon Rivers Dennis Keaveney captured the under 16 division with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Halifaxs Connor Young.

It feels good to win, Power said. I just had a really good warmup and I was hitting the ball really well.

Power said he enjoys playing Iaboni and always needs to be on top of his game when facing his clubmate.

Ive got to play my best to beat him, he said. Were pretty close in skill level so our matches are always fun. They can go either way.

In other Day 2 action Keaveney won the under 18 division final with an 8-0 win over New Glasgows Lisa Prince. Truros Stephen Stanton won the under 14 consolation final with an 8-2 win over Walter Moodie and Truros Leif Power defeated Truros Rumana Rafiq 8-7 to win the under 12 consolation final.

Doubles play will start today, weather permitting.
