Bearcats beat Crushers, Capitals in junior A hockey

TRURO - The Truro Bearcats have destroyed everything standing in their way so far this weekend.
The Bearcats (24-4-2-2) blanked the Pictou County Weeks Crushers (20-13-0-1) 7-0 Saturday in front of 768 at Colchester Legion Stadium after handing the Summerside Western Capitals (18-14-0-0) a 5-1 setback Friday in Summerside.
Truro looks to continue its red-hot play tonight as the Campbellton Tigers visit the Hubtown at 7 p.m.
Yuri Cheremetiev led Truro with a pair of goals against Pictou County while Chris Ivanko, Colin beck, Doug Burns, Jordan Mock and Luke Cudmore rounded out the scoring. Ben MacAskill and Dana Fraser added two assist each.
Richard Gagnon recorded the shutout with 29 saves.
The goaltender, who just joined the team Jan. 11, also made 23 saves for the win in Summerside.
Ivanko netted a pair of goals with others coming from Cheremetiev, Brett Frazee and Eric Louis-Seize. Fraser had three assists and Cheremetiev had two.
