Truro athlete downs two-time world champ
TRURO - Jake MacKenzie added another significant notch in his victory belt recently by taking the United States Brazilian Jiu-JItsu title in California.
The 22-year-old Truro native nipped two-time world champion Zack Maxwell 4-3 in advantage points in the final after winning his three previous matches. MacKenzie took his first match 4-2 before submitting, his next two opponents. In 14 international tournaments this season in the United States and Brazil, MacKenzie has collected medals in 11, including eight gold.

Hurricanes sweep Rams in soccer action
BIBLE HILL - The Holland College Hurricanes made themselves at home Thursday in Bible Hill, sweeping a pair of ACAA soccer games from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College Rams. The Rams' men lost 3-1 with Josh Kennedy scoring the lone marker while the women's team lost 9-1 with Janice Cameron tallying in the 17th minute.
