Mikmaq role models sharing their stories tonight

TRURO - Four Mi'kmaq role models who have overcome adversity in order to achieve their goals will share their stories tonight.
Troy Julien, who grew up in Truro, is one of the speakers at Wabanaki People of the Dawn III: Dreamcatchers.
Julien followed his great-grandfather's path into law enforcement and became a constable with the RCMP.
Other speakers include Chad Denny, who was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League; Jessie Benjamin, a veterinarian; and Bridget Stevens, who left a life of alcohol and drugs behind after becoming a boxer and brings her message of sobriety to a younger generation.
The event is taking place at the Marigold Cultural Centre tonight at 7:30 p.m. There is no charge for admission and refreshments will be provided.
The gathering is sponsored by the Office of Aboriginal Affairs.
