Snowmobile competition on today in Sutherlands Lake
SUTHERLANDS LAKE - The fifth annual ice drag races on Sutherlands Lake are being held today.
The snowmobiling event is hosted by the Sutherlands Lake Trail Groomers Association and will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are 29 classes, with four lanes of participants racing in each class.
The top two participants in each race advance until, at the end of the day, only two racers remain and claim trophies.
There were about 100 participants from throughout the Maritimes last year and organizers are hoping for at least that many this year. Proceeds from the day will go towards trail grooming. Last year about $15,000 was raised from the event.
