Pinkney rink moving on to provincial Scotties

TRURO - Colleen Pinkney punched her ticket for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women's curling championship at a qualifying tournament on the weekend at the Glooscap Curling Club in Kentville.
The Truro-based rink, which also includes mate Wendy Currie, second Karen Hennigar, lead Susan Creelman and coach Judy Burgess, posted a 2-1 record at the event.
"It feels good," Pinkney said. "It was one of the goals we set for the season. We hope to do well and we feel our chances are as good as anybody's."
Pinkney opened with an 8-6 win over Mayflower's Margaret Cutcliffe, before suffering her only loss of the event 8-6 to Mayflower's Jill Mouzar.
Pinkney then recovered for an 8-7 win over Gail Sinclair, also of Mayflower Curling Club.
The Scotties is set for Jan. 5 to 10 at Liverpool Curling Club.
Other teams qualifying for the tournament were Mouzar, Cutcliffe, Tanya Hilliard, Sarah Rhyno and Mary-Anne Arsenault.
