Peewee AAA Bearcats settle for pair of ties

TRURO - The Truro Pye Chevrolet Bearcats battled to a pair of 1-1 ties with Pictou County on the weekend in peewee AAA hockey.
Truro's Jacob Dillon scored Sunday on assists from Bradley Gallant and Aaron Coleman. Blake Meech played nets.
Quinn Fullerton claimed the Truro goal Saturday with Jared Deyarmond and Coleman getting the assists. Luke Melanson was between the pipes.
Meanwhile, the Bearcats went winless at the recent Blue Wave Energy tournament in Dartmouth. Truro posted an 0-2-2 record, finishing with a 1-0 loss to Dartmouth. Meech made 26 saves in the setback.
Truro opened the tournament with a 2-1 loss to Pownal. Fullerton scored and was named player of the game. Michael Stuart had an assist and Melanson stopped 24 shots.
Deyarmond scored in a 1-1 draw with the Antigonish Bulldogs to claim player of the game honours. Lucas Holman had an assist and Meech was in the net.
The Bearcats then battled to a 1-1 draw with Acadia on a goal from Dillon. Mitchell LeBlanc picked up an assist and Gallant was named player of the game. Melanson manned the net.
